One Million Pageviews and Counting for the Ephemera Blog

One million! That's how many pageviews this blog has received since its founding. In a small niche like ephemera, that's a milestone I hadn't even entertained when I first posted to this blog in 2005. There are now more than 2,000 posts featuring thousands of pieces of ephemera. Plus, there are dozens of interviews with leading ephemera collectors, authors, and acedemics. And, if you look closely, interwoven throughout, are some very personal moments and details about my life. It's been an exciting ride and I thank you all for joinning me on this incredible journey. Along the way, I've learned a lot about blogging and a thing or two about ephemera collecting.

The seller says, "I am almost certain this is the first sign of it's kind to be restored to museum quality. The company that restored the sign is Remember When Collectibles, now celebrating their 23rd year in business restoring vintage Coca Cola machines, tin signs, pedal cars, and numerous other high end collectibles from the turn of the century to the early 60's era. Little Lulu Marjorie Henderon Buell Original Comic Art 1939

Up for bid on eBay is this Marjorie Henderon Buell original comic artwork from 1939.

The seller explains, "Emma Pratt Hall who lived in Mansfield, Mass., wrote many fan letters requesting doodles from her favorite comic artists of the era, nearly one hundred artists honored her requests [including Buell]."

The seller adds, "These are all from the years of 1939 - 1940 and many have letters that accompany the drawings. It really is amazing the response she received this collection is outstanding. I would guess she was a persuasive letter writer and by the personalized content of many of the letters she was likely a young girl. Her comic art collection gained her some recognition as she received a press newspaper mention from a Sheffield England newspaper that is not included in this auction - but we included a scan of it the bottom of the listing as reference and provenance. Item: An inscribed C. 1939 - 1940 and signed "Marge" by the comic artist Marjorie Henderson Buell the creator of the Little Lulu comic strip original pen & ink and watercolor Illustration art comic work of her beloved signature comic character Little Lulu."

Up for bid on ebay is this original 1940s World War II-era posed candid photograph of Marlene Dietrich as Santa's little helper to Eddie Cantor's father Christmas.

According to the seller, the image was take "during one of the many morale boosting celebrity star studded events which occurred continually at the Hollywood Canteen. Joseph Jasgur captures the frivolity that the Canteen offered by bringing the glamor of tinsel town to servicemen on their way to the grit of war. This is a very rare Victory girl morale boosting piece of Hollywood history, celebrity Americana, and Marlene Dietrich memorabilia, vintage and original, ink stamped on verso."

Up for bid on eBay is this 1821 stampless, folded, handwritten letter describing Niagara Falls. It is dated August 12, 1821 from Rochester, NY.

According to the seller the letter was sent to Mrs. Margeret Turner, No. 161 Street, New York  from John Turner to Margeret Turner, relationship unknown.
