Little Lord Fauntleroy Flyaway

Littlelord_1 It's not just bookmarks, like this Little Lord Fauntleroyexample, that fall out of old books when you open them. All sort of ephemera can tumble out,  such as newspaper clips, business cards, postcards, letters, and even currency.

The old-school book dealers call them "fly-aways".

This bookmark flew away from an 1920s novel, and was later purchased by a collector in the U.K.

I've heard that used bookstores and public libraries sometimes have boxes filled with fly-aways that they haven't a clue what to do with. It's a nuisance to them, but it can be a boon to ephemera collectors.

I enjoy flipping through an old book and watching as a gem like this one literally falls right into my lap.
