In the midst of the Great Depression, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts probably wasn't issuing many vehicle registration cards to Cadillac owners. Perhaps since it was such a rare occurrence, or just by random chance, one lucky owner held on to his Caddy registration card long after it expired on Dec. 31, 1933. And because he did, today we all get a peak at it.
For a fee of $6, Frank R. Lyman, Commissioner, Registry of Motor Vehicles, issued this card from his office at Commonwealth Pier, Boston. It was valid for one year. It was stamped, numbered, and dated in accordance with the laws of the State of Massachusetts.
And the driver went on his merry way.
