Coca-Cola Calendar Girls
This is an ad for the 1911 Coca-Cola Girl Calendar. The tiny ad (about 2" square) provides information for ordering an advanced issue of the soft drink company's famous "Coca-Cola Girl" calendar.
According to a Hamilton King, who was well-known for his use of colors at the turn-of-the-century, illustrated the 1911 Girl calendar. Unlike many of the anonymous illustrators who worked for Coke in the early years, King signed his work for the company, which lends even more collectible value to his items. A large version of King's 1912 calendar, for instance, is said to be worth $8,000. King's Coca-Cola Girls were also printed on serving trays and trolley cars.
In 1911, "on receipt of 2-cents postage," Coke would have been pleased to send you one of King's calendars.
That would have been a very wise investment.
