Berlin Wall - Vintage Postcard

Wall Here is a vintage postcard of the Berlin Wall from Michelle Behan's collection. The Berlin Wall was erected in 1961 and dismantled in 1989, so it had a brief, yet haunting, life of 28 years. At least 100 people were killed at the site of the Wall trying to escape from East Berlin to freedom in the West, according to Michelle's description.

This is the third item I've featured from Michelle Behan. She was kind enough to submit several items during my recent 'coolest' ephemera contest. "Most of the images in my small collection are appropriately stark and graphic, like the one shown," says Michelle.

After receiving so many interesting items from around the world, I've decided to continue to feature reader submitted ephemera in a 'show-and-tell' format. So, if you'd like me to feature ephemera from your collection, please email them to me as JPEG attachment, along with a brief description.
