An antique Tour Through the British Possessions game
dating from the mid 1800s is being offered by a seller on eBay.
With a title like that, could fun be far behind?
According to the seller, "This charming fold-out game shows Britannia or Queen Victoria and a lion at the top by the title with Old Father Time. The small pictures going round show fighting natives, a lighthouse, Australian aboriginals, British military soldiers, Canadian or American Indians in the snow, India and elephants, sailing ships at sea and landing in the South Seas with a lighthouse and other fascinating 19th c. miniature views of foreign lands to fire a child's imagination and let them dream of exotic places."
Each section, according to the description, is numbered and the players would move their way to the center which shows St. Paul's Cathedral and the River Thames in London. It comes in the original folder with a similar picture on the front of a family about to board a sailing ship on their journey around the world.
Tour Through the British Possessions was made by John Betts.
