Frank DeFreitas' recent post
about books on ephemera has inspired me to do some serious reading on the topic of ephemera. I look forward to keeping an eye on the books Frank decides to feature
this season on his blog, as he promised in his post:
Perhaps the new month and arrival of the Fall season would be a good time to make a few posts about books on ephemera. After all, with the word ephemera coming to mean so many different things on the Internet -- from the accurate to the outrageous -- it wouldn't hurt to review the resources available. To learn not only the history of the word, but the history of the field as well.
One such example is today's selection. This is Ephemera: Collecting Printed Throwaways
, by one of the all-time authorities on the field, Maurice Rickards (1919-1998). Published in 1977 and printed by The Gossamer Press, it is the forerunner to the eventual, and now classic Collecting Printed Ephemera
, and the latest (and some say greatest) Encyclopedia of Ephemera
.
