This eBay auction for an original letter from the Monopoly game makers
, signed by Charles Darrow, reminded the rainy school-day afternoons when my old buddy Phil would come over and take me to the Monopoly woodshed. Of all the times we played, and it had to be dozens, I only beat him once. (Another time I forced him into an exhausting draw.) Suffice to say, Phil could play some mean Monopoly.
This fine auction has other Monopoly ephemera items including:
- An original Charles Darrow's signature on a typewritten letter on Monopoly letterhead.
- An original Parker Brothers letter signed by Robert B. M. Barton.
- Another Parker Brothers letter, which may be signed by the secretary of Robert B. M. Barton.
- The envelope.
The seller says, "These items would make a one of a kind gift for the Monopoly enthusiast!" I have to agree. My friend Phil would certainly enjoy these collectible items.
