This invitation to fete (old-school word for celebration) at Augill castle "...to be held on Friday March 29th, 1912," is offered together with an invitation to a social gathering, sponsored by Brough United Band of Hope, by an Abebook's seller.
According to the seller, entertainments at the fete were to include a school feast, concert and dances, a play, an evening dance till 1.a.m., with Brough brass band playing, and proceeds going to local charities. The social gathering was composed of songs, a sketch, refreshments and games.
Speaking of fetes, today is one such occasion, so Happy New Year 2010. You don't need a special invitation to stop by the ephemera blog today or any day throughout the year. All are welcome here even without a fancy fete invite.
