Theodore Roosevelt Bwano Tumbo Celluloid Button Pinback

Offered on eBay is one of the rarest of the rare Teddy Roosevelt political buttons.

"This sepia celluloid button has an unusual photo of Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt. When Teddy Roosevelt returned from his trip to Africa after his stint as President, he came home not only with trophies and stories, but he was also saddled with a new nickname. "Bwano Tumbo" (sometimes "Bwana Tumbo"). On occasion, a postcard, book, or some other item will turn up with an image of T.R. and this name. The American public was lead to believe this Swahili phrase meant, "Great Hunter", or "Lucky Chief". This is certainly what the public wanted to hear and Roosevelt, eying another term in the White House did nothing to dissuede the gullible."

Autograph of Lord Stanley Creator of NHL Hockey's Stanley Cup

Up for bid on eBay is the Stanley Cup creator's autograph, Lord Stanley of Preston.

The fine signature includes “Stanley of Preston / March / 92,” penned on a small card.

The seller says, "A rare and desirable autograph. After Lord Stanley of Preston was appointed by Queen Victoria as Governor General of Canada on June 11, 1888, he and his family became highly enthusiastic about ice hockey. Stanley was first exposed to the game at Montreal's 1889 Winter Carnival, where he saw the Montreal Victorias play the Montreal Hockey Club. Stanley's entire family became active in ice hockey."

The seller continues, "Two of his sons, Arthur and Algernon, formed a new team called the Ottawa Rideau Hall Rebels. Arthur also played a key role in the formation of what later became known as the Onntario Hockey Association, and would go on to be the founder of ice hockey in Great Britain. Arthur and Algernon persuaded their father to donate a trophy to be 'an outward and visible sign of the hockey championship'."

Soon afterwards, the seller adds, Stanley purchased a decorative punch bowl, made in Sheffield, England, and sold by London silversmith G. R. Collis and Company [now Boodle and Dunthorne Jewellers]. He had the words "Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup" engraved on one side of the outside rim, and "From Stanley of Preston" on the other side.

Team Worn Viet Nam RT Rattler Pocket Patch

Up for bid on eBay is an actual team worn Rt Rattler pocket patch from 1-0 Robert Aston, who was team leader early 1969 to march 1970.

"The large pocket patch comes with a photo from Jason Hardy of Ashton with his team," says the seller. "Aston is pictured in Jason Hardys book SOG Team History And Insignia Of A Clandestine Army on page 239 wearing an RT Rattler insignia.

The seller adds, "I paid more for this patch than I have for any other single Vietnam War patch I have bought in 31 years of business."

The seller says the guitar pick was given to him by Stevie during an in-store appearance at Sound Warehouse in Dallas, Texas on 1-30-87.

"I was one of the first people through the line, and having gotten to know Stevie a bit from seeing him perform for years in tiny clubs, I asked him for a pick, and gave him one of mine in return, as I had previously done on countless occasions," says the seller. "After chatting for a minute while he signed my album, I proceeded down the line and had his band, Tommy Shannon, Chris "Whipper" Layton, and Reese Wynans add their signatures as well."

This original poster painting advertises a Great Fire Sale for the well known Philadelphia Department Store, Lit Brothers. There was a Great Fire in Philadelphia in 1910 and this poster is definitely from this period."
