A 1937, Courvoisier Gallery/Walt Disney Enterprises animation cel from the classic Disney feature film "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" is up for bid on eBay.
The seller says, "This charming and highly sought after Disney animation Cell...depicts the Dwarf named "Happy" and is identified with a neat, pencil inscription at the lower left hand edge of the matte opening."
The seller adds, "Courvoisier, as with all the Disney project materials they had access to, selected a number of cels from this feature length, film cartoon and destroyed the rest, with Disney's blessing. Thanks solely to the Gallery's efforts, some cels (like the one offered here) have survived from both features and shorts that would have probably just been disposed of entirely by the studio. The best thing about the Courvoisier Galleries pieces was that they never failed to pick high quality images, always the best.
According to the listing, the Cel's back contains the Disney copyright notification and a warning about the inflammable nature of the nitrate cel. It reads "This Material Inflammable - HANDLE WITH CARE - Frame Under Glass - Copyright 1937 - WALT DISNEY ENTERPRISES". The second label identifies the film that the Cel was taken from and reads "This is an original painting on celluloid from the Walt Disney Studios, actually used in the filming of 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". / Only a very small number have been selected to be placed on the market / Walt Disney".
To own it, click the link I've conveniently placed in the first paragraph of this post...and bid, bid, bid. You'll be "Happy" you did.
