Bruce Springsteen Time Magazine 1975 E Street Band

Up for bid on eBay is this Time Magazine (October 27, 1975) issue featuring Bruce Springsteen.

I'm featuring this item today in honor of my recent visit to Wrigley Field to see Springsteen on 9-7-12.

I first saw him perform live on 9-8-81. Bruce Springsteen inform and highly influence my musical taste over the course of my lifetime. There is no question in my mind about this. Before I saw Bruce in 1981, I had little interest in music nor did music have much of an impact on me one way or other. After seeing Bruce in 1981, I began to drill down not only into his cannon but into his influences--rockabilly, early Elvis, alt. country, and, most especially, the Blues. I can safely say that if I had never seen Bruce, I would not have the same taste in music (or enjoyment of it) that I have today. So, he has had a major influence and impact on my life in the aesthetic aspect of it.

The seller says, "This 64 year old 98 page radio and television guide is in nearly perfect condition! It is filled with personality stories and many photos of stars from that era. But the one that catches my eye is the cover feature on Edgar Bergen. Written by his wife, Frances, the four page article is filled with personal stories about Bergen and their family, which in 1948, included two year old Candice. Frances writes about their home, collections, hobbies and Edgar's leisure activities which included swimming, riding, puttering with engines, woodworking, painting. And bee-keeping. His perfectionist attitude about script writing and rehearsal for his weekly Sunday night Radio Show is outlined."

Auburn University Sports Pioneer George Petrie Letter Alabama 1905

Up for bid on ebay is this scarce Alabama Polytechnic Institute, Auburn, Alabama, letter from the famous George Petrie to a professor at Columbia University. The letter is dated Sept 18, 1905.

Thes seller says, "Letter...discusses the matriculation and qualifications of William W. Davis."

George Petrie (April 10, 1866 – September 6, 1947) was an American scholar and educator who played a crucial role in the development of Auburn University. He is also the author of the Auburn Creed.
