Here is a rare opportunity to own a piece of BDSM history. Up for auction on eBay is a collection of BDSM ephemera, featuring one-of-a-kind, historical human sexuality documents.
"This is a very unusual sale," says the seller. "You will probably not see anything like it on ebay or anywhere else again."
The seller continues, "These are rare collectible materials whose value will increase with age. One of the authors of this book is deceased and very few materials with his signature exist. Some of the books are out of print. Some of the other material is one of a kind. Let me tell you the story behind these materials and how I came into possession of them. In the late 1980s, BDSM and its related sexual fetishes were just beginning to become known by the mainstream. These practices were still regarded by most people with disgust and/or fear. Jon Jacobs and Gloria Brame, two close friends who met on CompuServe, decided to change all that by writing a book that would clearly explain to those who were unfamiliar with bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, sadism and masochism, what these practices realistically entailed, what sorts of people was doing them, and why they were doing them. Their talented partners were invited to become co-authors at that time. One, William Brame, accepted. The other, yours truly, declined but became a most enthusiastic supporting partner for the book project. I organized the extensive paper files on the project, transcribed interviews, mailed out permissions requests, and provided extensive help with the manuscript’s formatting and editing. I was there in the midst of it all, doing a little bit of everything."
