Up for bid on eBay is an original 1948 rare photograph
of Marilyn Monroe for Columbia Pictures, inkstamped by photographer Ed Cronenweth.
The seller says, "This is from the publicity campaign for her first important film role and is described on verso paper press snipe as follows: Another local girl made good today when Marilyn Monroe, 21-year-old blonde photographers' model and magazine cover girl, reported to Columbia Pictures to start a term contract and to take one of the two top feminine roles in Ladies of the Chorus. This also has an April 7th, 1948 datestamp as seen. This photograph and the snipe on the verso is about as good encapsulation of the transformation myth of Marilyn Monroe as is out there. From the redheaded Norma Jeane, she is reimagined by Columbia pictures as a blonde bombshell and shown as the American dream personified, fresh faced and heading to LA to make legends."
